About 1,500 jobs at State Farm's Jacksonville operations could be up in the air.
The fate of 1,500 State Farm call center jobs in Jacksonville is seemingly up in the air.
The Business Journal received a news tip earlier this week that employees at the Baymeadows operations center were told that at least some of the positions would be moving to State Farms? facility in Winter Haven in six to 12 months.
A State Farm spokeswoman offered a vague statement in her response to our inquiry.
?As it has done throughout its 90-year history, State Farm continues to review its facilities, looking to ensure employees are in the right places to provide the best service possible for our customers. Customers' expectations continue to evolve and we need to adapt as those expectations change. Decisions will be made over time ? some happening sooner ? others years later,? State Farm Florida spokeswoman Michal Brower wrote in an email.
"What we can confirm is that our company headquarters remains in Bloomington, Ill. We are expanding our established presence in Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix.
?Today, we are continuing to use our Jacksonville Operations Center facility to support our work and serve customers. Our review is ongoing. We appreciate the continued contributions of people in all these facilities.
?We do not have further details to share now but when we do we will be certain to communicate with our agents, employees and associates.?
State Farm appears to shuffling things all over the country. Following large expansions in Dallas and Atlanta, there?s speculation that it could move its corporate headquarters to either of those cities, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle, a sister publication.
State Farm area executive Marino Rodriguez did not return a phone call seeking comment.
