This is something that is new in home and that my children learned form a friend. I will admit that I not very good at it but I have a great time trying. Playing is similar to hockey but that you use brooms. We play on the back-porch because there is plenty of room but you can play anywhere that you can skate if you choose to use skate. Younger children may not know how to skate so playing without the skates may be preferred.
Set up cones where the goals will be on either end of your ?rink?, if you have smaller children playing consider making these goals a little closer together. Divide up into two teams, we try to keep the teams evenly numbered. Each team member gets a boom (use small ones if needed) and you need a goalie for each team.
To play simply take a ball (any size will work) and hit the ball into your teams goal. The goalie must try to keep the ball out of the goal and the other players try to get the ball for their own team. Like I said broom hockey is very similar to ice hockey just no ice.
